I began designing for the retail furniture market in 1970, as a result of the then V.P. of Home Furnishings at Bloomingdale's, Carl Levine, who introduced me to one of their resources. First case pieces, followed by upholstery. My path in products and manufacturers is long, but currenlty, all my creative efforts are being satisfied by one innovating company, LAZAR.
Rick was born in South Korea and came to the U.S. as a teenager. Upon obtaining a degree in industrial design, Lee jumpstarted his career in Chicago with notable furniture manufacturers and design firms. Relocating to Milan, he then honed his distinctive artistic style seen in his work today. Incorporating minimal principles of Bauhaus with experience he gained collaborating at the irreverent Studio Alchemia. Lee nurtured a unique aesthetic that is both vibrant and charismatic.
